This is a simple Streamlit application structured as a modular project and managed using Poetry. The application is designed to be deployed to a Posit Connect server.

I followed the recommended installation of Python with the latest version available at the time of writing this. Docs can be found at https://docs.posit.co/resources/install-python.html

I used a local development environment of WSL2 on my Dell XPS with Windows 11. I could have done the development through RStudio on the VM server, but I prefer VSCode myself.
On the development machine, create a virtual environment and install poetry.

source ~/venv/posit/bin/activate
pip install poetryAll packages will be managed by poetry. The application directory on the referenced Github repo was created with this following command.
poetry new ./streamlit-posit-appThen each new package is added with the following command.
poetry add rsconnect-pythonBut, if we restoring this from the referenced repo, then we won’t manually be adding each package, we just use poetry to install all dependencies.
poetry lock && poetry install --no-rootRunning the App
To run the Streamlit application locally, use the following command:
poetry run streamlit run app.py
# or just
streamlit run app.pyDeployment
To deploy the app to a Posit Connect server use the following command.
# Adding server and api key for use later via name
rsconnect add --name vm --server http://192.168.110.133:3939 --api-key <api-key>
# Deploy
rsconnect deploy streamlit --name vm --entrypoint app.py .
