Speed Up My Site

Originally I built my personal site by using a free responsive template and then I just modified the source code. The page loads were slow and I didn’t really learn much in the process.

I got interested in static site generators as they seemed to meet what I needed for most of my use cases. I’d heard about GatsbyJS from SyntaxFM and then watched a great conference talk from Kyle Mathews (Talk) about the framework. So I decided to give it a go.

Template

The starter templates were a great place to start. I chose the Hero Blog by Greg Lobinski and started modifying it.

Quick and Fun

I found the experience great and learnt a lot while having heaps of fun. The final site is much faster. I recommend it.
